Vista Error 7054 ?
While using internet I got an error 7054 “The number of connections to this computer is limited and all connections are in use right now. Try connecting later or contact your system administrator.” What is this error all about and how can I fix this problem?
Answer 1
You are getting this error because of the restrictions that Microsoft has imposed on the TCP/IP protocol that you use. Microsoft enforces a limit on half-open TCP/IP connections which is hard-coded in tcpip.sys. This is done intentionally to limit the spread of virus and worms over TCP connection and also limits the possibility of launching a DDoS attack. It has also proven to restrict some applications using many TCP connections, such as P2PTV and P2P programs. So when any of your application violets this specifications this error is thrown. To resolve this problem you need to override tcpip.sys with newer versions of Windows updates or you can also download the patched tcpip.sys file from http://www.speedguide.net/files/vista/tcpip and replace this tcpip.sys with the previous one. After that, set the desired new limit for TCP half-open connection using Windows Registry and your job is done. Note: 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Vista use different tcpip.sys files.
