On my vista based computer system, I was installing an application program. After completing its installation it asked for the windows to be updated. I do the same. After installing the update when I restarted my computer system, I found that some kind of stop error message was shown to me. The error message was: STOP: 0x000000B8 (0x00000000, 0x00000001, 0x00000002, 0x00000003) ATTEMPTED_SWITCH_FROM_DPC I don’t know what to do in such situation as I am not interested in formatting my system since I don’t have the backup till now. Suggest me please!

As you have written in your question that first you have install an application program that demanded for the updates and then after the windows update you get that error message. The causes of these are mainly the Adsmscsi.sys driver in the Storage Manager. Due to the program compatibility issues you need to install only those softwares that are compatible with windows. To solve this problem, 1. Restart your system in Safe Mode. Starting the system in safe mode prevents invalid drive from loading with the minimal system files and drivers 2. Disable all the services that are started by the application program After that, restart the system. If you still have the same problem then you may need to go for the windows re-installation.
