You may need to see the definition updates for Windows Mail. For that you can visit on the http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=905866

Here you can see that many definition updates for Windows Mail Package are available now. In case your computer systems are set to automatic updates, you don’t need to download these updates. Now you are getting the error message 0x800B0100. The reason of the occurrence of this error is an issue of windows security .dll files are registered incorrectly.

To solve it Windows Vista or windows server 2008, follow these steps:

  1. Download and run the system update readiness tool. This tool runs a one-time scan for consistencies that may prevent future servicing operations. Other than that you can also download the Checksur.exe tool.

  2. Try to install updates once again

Note: After running the tool, the Checksur.log is located at %systemroot%\\Logs\\CBS\\. In your condition it can be found at c:\\Windows\\Logs\\CBS
